Entry#2: the ballad power

In my opinion, ballads are one of the prettiest forms of expression. In music, ballads hold a strong emotion that really captivates me. I am more familiar with ballads that are sung. Ballads hold an emotion that can connect to the listener. Sometimes, when you need a good cry, a ballad is a good force to end up pouring out your emotions. I think a ballad is an important genre because it is unique in its own way and it makes the listener think and analyze an emotion better.

For me, a ballad makes me think more about music and how each component is important to create a feeling of sadness or an intense one. It makes me think and look into music theory more which spikes my interest for music. A ballad brings out a feeling and makes me a different person like its a beautiful meal to my ears. Many ballads are sung with accompaniment by instruments such as: a piano, cello, guitar, violin, etc. These instruments can range from low octaves to higher ones that can be essential to create a ballad. Together, instruments and the voice create an intense wave when tone and notes work together nicely. For example, a ballad may typically use an F natural, or minor keys because it sounds heavier and not "happy" opposed to how an F sharp would. But it would of course all depend on the rest of the components and notes.

One of my favorite artists who write ballads is Huh Gak from South Korea. Most ballads I like are either from K-dramas, my own findings, or my moms playlist when she was younger. (they were more common than pop nowadays). Watching a scene that is sad in a K-drama while a ballad was playing was one of the most emotional things I experienced. Not because of what I was seeing, but because of what I was listening to. I am usually not an expressive person; However, a ballad really brought those emotions out. I feel like a ballad helps me be more expressive which is good for many relationships I have that need expressing because communication is an important factor of maintaining those relationships.

Overall, ballads are at the top of my list for creativeness and best genres out there. It can make anyone feel refreshed in a way. It helps me on my thought train and makes me think more to be communicative.

Here are some of my favorite ballads:

Entry #1: learning about blogs, my opinion

Hi, what I think about blogs is that they are a way of communication where you are in charge of how to build it and access it for people. I still don't really understand blogs because everyone does theirs differently so its a bit confusing when there is more topics than expected. However, it can be a great way to inform people about a certain subject or to tell your story. A blog I liked was from https://firstsiteguide.com/examples-of-blogs/#relationship-blogs that posted https://www.gottman.com/blog/two-good-reasons-to-save-your-marriage/. I liked that blog because the writers use the words "you" and they start their blog like they have been a life long friend. They also provide good evidence that is credible and even resources if marriages come to an abusive state. I like this blog as it is well organized and put together nicely.

One I did not like was https://2015.bloggi.es/ because there was no specific topic instead, blogs that were posted in 2014. The look of the blog did not intrigue me either.  There was a big star in the right side of the screen that took up the majority of the space where there could be information instead. The information on the blog shared a decent amount but you would constantly have to click on one to see the full information.

Blogs can be a form of expression for someone and I prefer blogs that focus on one “theme” and have the same tone throughout. Blogs with continuously different tone make the whole blog feel like it is written by a different person.

Who I am

I hope you are reading this well. I am Ariana. Pondering and light comes from what I enjoy: thinking, and knowing there is light where I go. I like writing, the outdoors, being active, and happy. I enjoy playing instruments like my cello and piano and sports like cross country and tennis. I am a very worrisome person who does not like to disappoint people, it makes me feel weary just thinking about it. I like the color blue. Although the ocean and sky are blue, I am a bit afraid of heights. I enjoy the idea of philosophy, the human mind and the world's diversity. I think that is why I over analyze sometimes. I aspire to pursue a career in becoming a neurosurgeon or a general surgeon. I hope to build a family and still be there while being a surgeon because I think family is important. Some pet peeves of mine include: when people disrespect their elders, buzzing or quick sand-like noises, or when people do not get their point across and the listener has to guess what they mean. I like being calm and am always grateful for the things I have in life. Challenges I face may come and I will fail at times but at the same time it will push me forward. I love the band Wave To Earth, Hyukoh, Radiohead, Nirvana, Lana del Rey, DPR, 92914, and more. I also enjoy classical music (surprise) one of my favorite pieces is Rachmaninoff Piano concerto no.2 in C minor, Op. 18- ||. Adagio sostenuto. There are millions of pieces I love but this one is close to a favorite. My mom would always play Beethoven when I was in the womb and she jokes that that is the reason I want to be  ¨the next Beethoven¨. I noticed a liking for cello when I was around 8 years old. My friends consider me to be someone of old age in a teenage body sometimes which I think about a lot. Right now, I am connecting more into my native culture and learning a lot. I hope I can be able to fully speak my dialect fluently so I can teach future generations about their culture too. As you can tell, I like helping people out whether they deserve it or not, I wouldn´t like to see them fail knowing I could be of some sort of help. Thank you for getting to know me.

Entry #10: What does playing the cello for 8 hours feels like

Hello everyone. Yes you read that right. I had rehearsal that took 8 hours.  For context, I play the cello in my high school orchestra and ...
